SPRING 2024 COMMUNITY PARTNERS MINISTRY FOOD DRIVE
We are organizing our semi-annual food drive to help Jehovah Lutheran Church and School stock their food pantry for the summer. Jehovah is our linkage church and grade school located at 3740 W Belden Ave. in Chicago. The food will be shared with Jehovah's community families during the summer months. Please place your food donations in the donation area in the Narthex before Wednesday, May 15. Donations can be made when attending Saturday or Sunday worship or during the school day. Students can bring food donations to school entrances. We ask that only non-perishable items are donated (soup, tuna, ravioli, spaghetti, fruit, vegetables, etc.), dry packaged foods (macaroni and cheese, pasta), paper products (paper towels, facial tissue, toilet paper), and family-size toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant). Copier paper boxes to pack the food in are also appreciated. If you have any questions, would like to volunteer or have boxes, please contact Vaughn or Diane Kuerschner at 847-776-6547. Thank you for your support and may God Bless Your Day!

ST. PETER KIDS END OF YEAR SCHEDULE
St. Peter Kids have been having a blast learning how to SHINE for Jesus and about PATIENCE for the last month. We're looking forward to wrapping up the year well before we pause for summer.

Please note that we will not be meeting Sunday, May 12th in order to allow families to celebrate Mother's Day. Please spend some extra time saying thank you to the moms and ladies in your life who have been influential.

We'll come back for one last weekend on May 19th to celebrate an amazing first year of St. Peter Kids. Be sure to come hang and party before we take a break for the summer. Thank you for all your support as we work to help the youngest disciples at St. Peter become more like Jesus!

On May 22, St. Peter will be hosting its annual Jog-a-thon fundraiser! Our goal this year is to raise $40,000 to add indoor climbing structures in the small gym for students in preschool 3’s through 8th grade. Would you consider donating? Click HERE to donate!

DYNAMITE DESSERTS NEEDED!
Next week is our Teacher and Staff Appreciation week and the PTL is  looking for desserts to treat our teachers and staff on Friday, May 10th. They can be homemade or store bought and all are welcome. Some ideas: Pies, cupcakes, brownies, cakes, cookies, cake pops, and gluten or nut free desserts. Click HERE to donate deserts.

GIFT PLANNING OFFERS SOLUTIONS FOR DONORS WISHING TO SUPPORT MINISTRY THROUGH THEIR GIFTS!
“My congregation won’t know what to do with a gift if I leave something from my estate.”  That is where the conversation turned between two friends having coffee one afternoon. The other responded, “I thought St. Peter has a Foundation with endowments. Have you considered giving to that?”  “I hate to admit it, but I really don’t know what it is about. I’ve heard financial reports at congregational meetings, but it just seemed like numbers. It’s my fault, but I have never investigated what the funds are for.”
This experience is quite common for many of us. Our world is so full of information that we have to decide about what we will consider and when we will consider it. It may be true that we haven’t spent much time thinking about charitable gifting from our estates and so we have not paid much attention to something like our St. Peter Foundation funds.  Ray Pagels, our Gift Planning Counselor is trained to assist you in creating a gift plan that blesses the family you love and the ministries you care about. Part of that work for gifting to ministry might be some research that can identify the proper recipient of a gift from your estate. Maybe your questions are similar to what others have already asked. Or maybe Ray, knows exactly who to ask. For assistance, you can contact Ray at 847-226-2262 or ray.pagels@LFND.org.
