First Communion Class
Has your child been asking you when they can take communion?
Have you been struggling to answer them or explain why they can't?
We've found that many students, starting in the later elementary grades, are both interested and ready to start taking communion. At this point in their cognitive and faith development, they are increasingly excited to participate in the sacred rites of the church and have been paying attention for some time to what you and the other "grown ups" have been doing.
You and your child are invited to join Pastor Greiner and DCE Kristin Harman for our First Communion Class! Designed for students starting in 5th grade, this 2 hour class is a lively, informative opportunity for students and their parents to discuss their faith and the special gift we call "Communion" that Jesus has given us.
When: Saturday, April 4 from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Where: Life Center
Upon completion of this class, students will be invited to take Communion for the first time as a class at our Maundy Thursday Service, which will take place at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 9, 2020. Immediately following the service, we will gather in the Living Room for a quick celebration with punch and cake. For those unable to attend the service that day, the students are welcome to start taking communion at any time after completing the class.
